Waze Mapping Project

The past few months I have been running a free mapping program for my phone called Waze.  The goal of Waze is user generated maps and traffic updates.  As a Waze user you can edit and improve the maps with a goal to always have the most accurate and updated maps. I have been working on update some of the maps but if anybody else is interested I can get you started and help you out.

Currently Fond du Lac has a map based of the 1990 census tiger data.  I have already added and fixed a few things but still a lot more can be done. I would love to get Fond du Lac all fixed up and have one of the best kept areas on waze.

Waze can be fun for a few reasons like exploring areas that you have never been to before.  One of the perks of exploring new areas is you get points for roads that nobody else has been on.

If you have any interest in running waze on your smartphone go over and grab yourself a copy and start wazing around. I would love to form a group if would like to work together, if you have any interest let me know.

New Fondy Tweets Tweaks

With a little help from a friend, I got some code working to reformats the rss feed that twitterfeed uses. Long story short it now puts a RT @username: in front of the message. I also did another tweak that if the message is over 140 characters it transforms Fond du Lac to FDL to save a few letters. I hope all works well.

I created @fondytweets as an easy way to follow Fond du Lac news and events on Twitter. Let me know what you think and what I can do to improve it. Check out the twitter page, or the sidebar widget on this page.
